Welcome to the Chair of?Financial Data Analytics!

The Chair of Financial Data Analytics is part of the? Cluster Finance, Accounting, Controlling, and Taxation?at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Augsburg.

?

In our teaching?at the Bachelor?level, our lectures provide?conceptual, methodological and theoretical foundations for the design and management of business information systems as well as digital finance. At the Master's level, courses are offered in financial data analytics, market microstructure and electronic securities trading.?Course offerings are completed?by doctoral seminars on research methods.

?

Our? research?focuses on the question?of?how?to extract useful information from large and heterogeneous data sets (big data) to support financial decision making. In addition, we focus on the management of opportunities and challenges associated with the digitalization of the financial services industry (especially FinTech). We use various methods of quantitative research (especially data and text mining) and qualitative research (especially?case study research).

Doctoral course with Prof. Robert Wayne Gregory on the topic of theory development in June 2023.

Upon invitation by the Chair of Financial Data Analytics, Professor Robert Wayne Gregory from the University of Miami conducted an engaging doctoral course on the subject of "Phenomenon-Driven Theory Development" in June 2023. The course brings together doctoral students from various disciplines and provides an overview of the role of theory, different types of theory development, and techniques of academic writing.

New research paper published in "Electronic Markets"

The article "What determines FinTech success? A taxonomy-based analysis of FinTech success factors", written in cooperation with researchers from Leibniz University Hannover, has been published in the journal "Electronic Markets". The paper, published as an open access publication, is freely available.

The Digital Finance Forum set up by the Federal Ministry of Finance presents the roadmap "Digital Financial Market Germany 2030", which outlines a catalog of various suggestions on how to succeed in increasing the future and competitiveness of Germany as a digital financial center in Europe.

In the winter semester, we offer various modules at Bachelor's and Master's level. These include the Bachelor's module "IT@BWL". As part of the Master's program, we offer the English-language module "Financial Data Analytics", among others. Seminars at Bachelor's and Master's level round off the range of courses. You can find a complete overview of our courses in the coming semester under "Teaching".
